December 15, 2017 Micro Connector update

I figured out an easier way to polarize the Micro Connectors.  It's rather easy to push out the pins of both the male and female round pin 2.54mm header strips.

The single row header strips above can be cut to any number of contacts from 1 to 40 using a fine tooth saw.  Dual row 80 pin header strips are available and can also be cut with a fine tooth saw.  The double row strips can be cut to dual row 4 pin strips making an 8 pin connector that is compatible with the standard NMRA 8 pin connectors.  The header strips cost about 2¢ per pin.

One dual row 80 pin header strip makes 10 NMRA connectors for about 15¢ per connector.

By reversing one pin on each connector you have a very nice pair of mating polarized connectors.

The picture above shows the male and female connectors with one pin removed.

The above picture shows the removed male and female pin installed polarizing the connectors.
