↑My Southern Pacific ¾ Dome Car 3601↑

↓ This is the real thing ↓
The Southern Pacific repainted all seven ¾ Dome cars from Daylight colors to silver with the red stripe for the San Francisco to Ogden and  Sunset Limited & Golden State Routes in 1961.  They still carried the Daylight Logo after the repainting.

This picture was taken in 1955 inside the lounge of car 3601 when it was new.

As pointed out the picture above was taken much later than 1955, I was suspicious because the packaging of treats on the shelf look much newer than the 50s.

I did a bit of editing to the mural and replaced the F40PH with a E7A to fit the mid 50s era.

  1. Hi! Your blog is great and the dome car turned out wonderfully! The bottom picture actually is not from 1955 but is from recent years of its use on the KCS subsidiary railroad in panama. You can tell by the mural of a F40ph.
